Macaroni and Glitter

Blue Ice Sea Glass
40% off Code MOTHERSDAY
at checkout.

Mother's Day is right around the corner. I've been thinking a lot about it, because I am of the 40% sale I am having at my etsy shop. It's taken me back to days gone by.

My children are all older now with the oldest due to turn 21 and becoming a Dad this year, and the youngest on the verge of his driver's license come this summer and my daughters falling in between. I miss macaroni and glue...

Seriously, those little cards the children would bring home from school that make a mess no matter where I proudly display them? Try to save them, go ahead, and yes, the macaroni falls off! Rendering the likeness of me in all my glory in the shape of an elbow with crazy green and gold hair turn into something more like the shape of a stick of dynamite after the explosion.

They were made with such love, each one a Picasso master piece... yet when they are grown, they are all gone... The time when I was their only love, their only desire was to see Mommy smile, and then in a flash, it is all gone by the way side. Thier new loves, babies, and jobs, and girlfriends, and new sneakers... they take mama's place and store bought Mother's Day cards, though well meaning, adorn the fireplace mantle or TV top, all crisp and clean with no mess to fuss about. Sure they are beautiful, and sure they are full of love. Yet, they lack in the innocence of the mommy of the year I used to be. Yes, mommy of the year! Before the time when groundings, and homework forcings. Before the times of "no, you may nots" and "I can't believe you did such a thing!" Before the time of "clean up your pig sty" and "can you at least TRY to act like a mature 14 year old for just one second?"

Growing up got in the way....

All my love!

Nana's Baby Boutique

I really enjoy CeCe's baby blankets and can't wait to be ordering them! My new grandbaby Zayden is going to look so cute wrapped up in a nice blue blanket with a Poppey logo on it... and when the new acorn gets here, his or her blanket is gonna be so cuddly! Ooo quooo... babies!!

Bisquick Cinnamon Rolls and Jersey Hill

Bisquick Cinnamon Rolls
I wanted cinnamon rolls... whats a girl to do when she wants cinnamon rolls and lacks the time in making them? Take to the internet and search for a Bisquick recipe!! I found one.... and they were pretty friggen good for about 45 minutes of my time! Gobbled them up pretty darn fast, feeling pretty full!

Bisquick Cinnamon Rolls
I want more... but it will have to wait, as I will now have to go shopping to get some more Bisquick. A few quick hints, roll out the dough on parchment paper, sprinkled with a bit of Bisquick. Create the "jelly roll" directly on the paper, wipe the excess Bisquick off and slide it right onto your pan. The cinnamon and sugar will melt right out onto your pan when it is baking, this will make for easy clean up! (I was OUT of parchment... but I didn't wait till the pan was completely cool to do my clean up, so it came of fairly easy!) Second tip, when slicing down on the roll, dip your sharp knife in a glass of warm water, shake it, don't wipe it, then make your slice. Repeat for every slice. The warm water makes slicing a breeze and the dough won't stick to your knife! Final tip, I didn't use the icing from the recipe. I used a tried and tested recipe of powdered sugar, a splash of vanilla and a splash or two of milk. Its creamier and yummy! It won't have the same "white" look, but the taste is much better than powdered sugar and water. Enjoy!!
Hips and Stix

I'd also bet you can find a scent for your home that would smell really close to cinnamon rolls at Jersey Hill Prim Potpourii!

"Jersey Hill is your home for highly scented rosehips in the best scents to match your prim, country, shabby, or rustic decor. If you don`t see the scent you are looking for we will do all that we can to get it."

Take a look at their site for prices and selections. I bet your gonna find something you are really going to want!

Chick's Passions The Lake Ontario Collection

Hi to all my lovies!! and WHEW!! I have been busy all week! Wrapping, cutting, picking, sorting, twisting.... CREATING! What a bunch of lovely pretties I have posted on my Esty Shop!

They are all about a lovely line I am calling the Lake Ontario Collections. Comprised mostly of pendants at this time that I created using findings from an adventure to Lake Ontario. Many peices of stone and seaglass... some are really impressive! I am in LOVE with this line! And even more in love with the fact that I can just keep creating and adding to it since I live so close to the lake!

Esty offers a widget type thing I can post to my blog, so go ahead and click on it to take you to my etsy shop and go find the perfect peice for you!

The Lake Ontario Collection

Sea Glass With Resting Dragon Fly
Had a great time Saturday with my BFF, Kelly. Went on a lovely adventure to Lake Ontario to search for sea glass. We found some very interesting pieces, many more pieces that weren't seaglass yet, and some very unique things that came home with us.

It really ended up being more about the time we were spending together than the search. The search gave us something to do while we talked and acted like our crazy selves. No one in the world would understand our conversations if they happened to pass us by and caught on to a few words here and there. That is what makes our love for one another so beautiful, those are the sounds our hearts make when they come together!

Tiny Shell Wrapped

There are few people in the world I will let my self be TOTALLY myself with, Kelly is one of them. She has a great eye for finding beauty in things, including searching through mounds of shell to find the smallest piece of sea glass, ever.

Double Striped Stone

I made some lovely pieces so far of the findings on our adventure to Lake Ontario, and am still searching for ideas of greatness to pass along to you with others I had found. They are soft and natural, spreading peace to the wearer of these lovely pieces. Take a look around my shop, I am sure you will find something you will enjoy! www.chickspassions.etsy.com
