Summer time!! Plans are made to be broken...

I don't have to tell anyone of you in the northern hemisphere that it's summer time. You all would look at me and say "uh, yeah duh, thanks for the information captain obvious!" I am wondering though, do any of you have the problem with making plans, only for other plans to come along and break your plans?

Our family suffers from "Broken Plan Syndrome" or BPS. We are constantly making plans, only to have something come along and say "nope, you cannot do that." Weather it be lack of money, time, or some other situation that needs our immediate attention, it rarely fails that plans that we have made for our immediate selves are ever followed through to completion. I even have a little joke about it, "don't want to do something? Well, just plan for it, then it won't happen!"

There is no known cure for BPS, Spontaneity seems to be the best treatment. "Oh, you don't have to work tomorrow AND you have an extra $20? Let's take a ride to the lake and then go get ice cream!" Another treatment that works well is Extended Family Plans. "We are having a get together at our house for 5,000 of our closest friends and it's 2 days from now! Bring a dish to pass, a gift to share and your happy smiles no matter what your plans for that day is!" (that's right, this treatment works BEST when it is served with in 2 days of the actual event!)

I have given up on trying to plan family vacations, the wallet and the check book are pretty much in agreement on this one. "Hey wallet, they were planning another one of those family get aways 6 months ago! I made sure to pull the plug on my drain this week."  "Awesome bank account! I just pulled the thread on my back spine this morning, I am sure to be empty in about 2 hours when we are done with that shopping trip to the grocery store!"

I envy those people who can make plans ahead of time and actually have the plan followed through till the end... but hey, ya know what?

That trip to the beach and a nice vanilla soft serve ice cream cone sounds really nice right about now! There is always sea glass and other beach findings waiting for my arrival!

All my love
~Sherry
